Overcoming Day 1

16 Sep

This trip to Europe has been months in the making.

Obtaining air mileage tickets as soon as they became available so in oredr to get an open spot was challenging but we did it.  We were able to get our info personal info in early, passport numbers etc, but had to wait until we walked up to the ticket counter to find out if  we were seated together.  It seems to get harder to get something for free.

Then came the rail tickets and hotel rooms.  Somehow we were able to make it all work out and after a nine hour flight over the North Pole we finally reached our destination we immediately dove into a hotel to get some needed rest before tackling what lies before us.

Will be using this post to jounal the days ahead.  Off on a six hour rail trip from Frankfurt to Vienna, a city I haven’t visited since my brother joined me in Europe in 1970.  Waiting to see what’s changed in the intervening years.
